Successful Conclusion of the 14th MESSy Symposium at KIT
The 14th MESSy Symposium took place 19–21 May 2026, hosted by the Scientific Computing Center (SCC) of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) at the KIT Campus North. The event successfully brought together approximately 50 participants from the MESSy community for three days of scientific exchange and networking.
The agenda featured 21 oral presentations, 15 poster presentations, and a dedicated hands-on tutorial session on tools and utilities within and around the Modular Earth Submodel System (MESSy).
The presentations included technical and scientific presentations on a wide range of topics and applications of the model system. Presenting technical advances and developments, scientific results on aerosol and cloud modelling, analyses on the Stratosphere and transport processes, simulation of climate and feedback mechanisms, and many more scientific applications.
The scientific program was complemented by two joint dinners, providing an excellent opportunity for attendees to discuss future developments and strengthen connections within the MESSy community. The event was well-received, highlighting the collaborative spirit and ongoing advancements within the atmospheric modelling framework.
We would like to thank the local organisers for putting together the scientific programme and organising the event, as well as the SCC for hosting the symposium. We are looking forward to the next meeting in 2027!
